I have led and contributed to numerous regional, national and European research projects at the intersection of economic geography, territorial development, public policy and environmental transitions. My research examines how territories respond to major economic, social, ecological and political transformations, with a particular focus on circular economy, territorial inequalities, democratic resilience, social acceptance and place-based transition policies. I am currently Principal Investigator of the Horizon Europe project JUSTPLACE and partner in the Interreg North-West Europe project ACCESS Hubs and the Horizon Europe project BloomEra. Further information on selected ongoing and past research projects is provided below.

Ongoing European research projects

JUSTPLACE — Justice and Participation through Localised and Citizen-Centred Engagement

Programme: Horizon Europe
Role: Principal Investigator
Period: 2026–2029

JUSTPLACE examines how territorial inequalities, perceived injustice, democratic trust and citizen participation interact across European territories. The project aims to produce robust scientific evidence and develop place-sensitive tools, policy recommendations and participatory methods to strengthen democratic resilience and territorial justice.

ACCESS Hubs — Strengthening Europe’s sharing and rental ecosystem

Programme: Interreg North-West Europe
Role: Partner
Period: 2026–2029

ACCESS Hubs aims to support the development of local access-based ecosystems across North-West Europe. The project focuses on rental, sharing, lending and reuse services as alternatives to ownership-based consumption. Within the project, my work contributes to understanding the barriers and drivers that shape citizens’ adoption of sharing and rental services, as well as the territorial conditions that enable these models to scale.

BloomEra

Programme: Horizon Europe
Role: Partner
Period: 2026–2029

BloomEra explores innovative cropping systems, circular agricultural value chains and sustainable business models. My contribution focuses on the economic feasibility, market potential, business models and territorial conditions that support the development of circular and sustainable value chains in agriculture.

Recent and past research projects

DHAK — The Role of Digital Helpers in Reducing Digital Inequalities

Programme: ESPON Targeted Analysis
Role: Scientific Coordinator
Period: 2025–2026

DHAK examined the role of informal digital helpers in reducing digital inequalities in the Bordeaux metropolitan area and the City of Brussels. The project combined survey data, qualitative interviews and territorial analysis to better understand who digital helpers are, how they support relatives, neighbours or peers in accessing digital services, and what resources they need. The project produced policy recommendations to help local authorities recognise and support digital helpers as key actors in digital inclusion and territorial cohesion.

BIOZE — BIOmass skills for net ZEro

Programme: Interreg North Sea
Role: Scientific Partner
Period: 2022–2024

BIOZE supported local authorities in strengthening the governance of bioenergy projects, with a focus on biogas and woody biomass. Implemented across France, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden, the project developed practical tools and workshops to help municipalities better understand biomass resources, engage stakeholders, anticipate public acceptability issues and integrate bioenergy into local renewable energy strategies. The project produced ready-to-use resources, including a roadmap, FAQ tools and a digital mapping prototype, to support more collaborative and territorially grounded bioenergy planning.
